Thomas, while I consider myself highly skilled at researching the family history from their departure in Hamburg in 1852 through the current, I'm very much a novice at European history, etc. Stuhm/Klezewco is the spelling I was given by Carsten Witting. He is an experienced German researcher who, obviously, is also researching the Witting name. There is a web site (in German) that is posting some of these records. I can't locate the URL right now but Carsten directed it to me. Unfortunately, since I don't read German, it is more than challenging for me. Perhaps the spelling difference is due to the change between Prussian, German and Polish rule? Who knows.... You are so very kind to be interested in this research. Do you happen to know the LDS film numbers for the records you mention? Thanks again for your kindness. Do you have a German background? Both my husband and I do. His family came from Prussia and my mother's family came from Poznan which, as I'm sure you know, Germany, Poland and Russia kept arguing over and it kept changing ownership..... Fortunately, I did locate the Poznan records on line from a site that is uploading marriage records. It is called the Poznan Project. My site is Mollach.TribalPages.com. Thanks again for your insightful comments. They are valued and appreciated.
