The location "Tilsit" was in the former province of East Prussia, nowadays it is called "Sovetsk" in oblast of Kaliningrad in Russia (Russian exclave between Poland and Lithuania). The town is near the boundary to Lithuania. The lutheran parish registers are available back to the 17th century. The also mentioned location "Turin?(sp)" could be one of the villages "Turen", "Turew", "Turau", "Turken" or similar in East Prussia.

Best regards
Thomas
