Mary, I don't know where you get your information from, but your sources are obviously very flawed. You will get nowhere without accurate information! Your historical information is absolutely wrong! Poland was not often under Russia in the 19th century! What was your source of that information?! Poland was partitioned in the late 18th century among Russia, the German state of Prussia -- "Preußen" is simply German for "PRUSSIA", by the way! -- and Austria. And that's exactly how it remained until 1919! Poland is not the current name of Prussia! Prussia was a German STATE! Just like the U.S. is made up of states, Germany has always been made up of states. Then you mention "Wroclaw". "Wroclaw" is the brand new -- I emphasize brand new -- Polish name that was given to the city of BRESLAU, the capital of the Prussian province of Silesia, following the expulsion! I repeat -- following the expulsion! So this would have nothing whatever to do with the people you're interested in. And you certainly would not have found anybody with a last name like Polzin in Breslau or anywhere in Silesia to begin with. As I said, I have no idea what the source of your historical information is, but it's all wrong! You will get nowhere in your research until you acquire an very accurate knowledge of the history. (Remember -- my background includes six years studying history at the University of Munich in Germany, so I am very well versed in these historical matters.)
