sorry about that... the name was written Vutzheim on a rootsweb site for Anna Catherina Karis. It was also written Butzheim, Prussia. My ancestor, Anna Catherina (maiden name uncertain spelling: Karis, Karst, Cargus or Cargas (sources: 1925 Iowa State Census maiden names of mothers... and the death certificates for answer to the same question: what is maiden name of mother - answer varies in spellings). My Anna Catherina was born about 1834 (census records: 1880 US Federal Census Iowa Mitchell County) and married to Peter E. Wagner. Both list their origins as Prussia. A lot of research has been done on the family - and it is certain that Peter and Anna were born in Prussia. Both of them were deceased by 1895 in Mitchell County, Iowa. I did a soundex name search for Kargus and Karst and located the rootswebsite showing someone else with the same name as my great grandmother : Anna Catherina ... and her last name was Karis. It is not the same woman as my great grandmother but because the spelling of the last name coincides with the soundex and because this Anna Catherina was born (according to the rootswebsite) in Butzheim, Prussia ... and living in Waunakee, Dane County, Wisconsin... the same county and state that my great grandmotehr lived in before she moved to Iowa I thought it was significant.
