Hi Sue,
My database of people from Schw-Hall is almost exclusively prior to 1800. While I have many GROSS in my database, I have no Jacob Gross born ca 1849. I just checked the IGI database on familysearch.org

I need to write one of the archivists at the Schw-Hall town archives to see if he can help.
