At Ancestry.com there are some trees with "Herman Edward Graefe, born Jan 1852, Unstrut-Hainich-Kreis, Germany (Deutschland), father: Christian Graefe, mother: Eleanora Radefeld"
Unstrut-Hainich-Kreis is something like a county and contains some towns (Langensalza, today Bad Langensalza is one of it) and villages.

You have to search for the birth-certificate Of Hermann Graefe. If you found it, search back in the same churchbook for the marriage of the parents.
Familysearch / LDS has microfilms of the civil registration of Langensalza:

Thats fine, cause you don't have to search for the right church.
Search through January 1852 and hope to find the birthdate.
If not you have to search in the villages nearby:

Good luck
