FRAUGOTT OBENAUF, retired, Etna, was born Sept. 26, 1828, in Ehra Reis, Saxony, Germany, son of CHRISTIAN OBENAUF, who came to America in 1854, and died in Mahoning County, Ohio.Our subject was educated in Germany, where he learned rope making.He immigrated to American at the age of 18, and followed his trade for ten years in Pittsburgh and Etna.He became the owner of the steam ferry-boat Blackhawk, and from 1866 to 1868 was in the sawmill business.Subsequently he spent four years in the west, in Illinois and Missouri, and during the last eight years has been engaged in the tobacco business.He married MAGDALENA, daughter of JACOB and CATHERINE MORBACH, old settlers in Edna, who owned 14 acres of Etna property, and JACOB, being a carpenter, assisted in building most of the houses in Etna.MR. OBENAUF is a republican.
