HERWEG OF WOLTWIESCHE
I am looking to make contact with any Herweg [Herwig/Herwey]family that may have originated in the Woltwiesche area near Braunswieg Germany. I am looking to expand on my knowledge of the following -
FREDERICK WILLIAM HERWEG
(Frederich Wilhelm)
Fred was born 27th May 1853 Woltwiesche, (Braunschweig),Germany.
Parents; Carl [or Conrad] HERWEG and Sophia NOY.
Woltwiesche, a small village 20 km south west of Braunschweig.
Little is known of Fredericks early years.
He arrived in Melbourne aboard the sailing ship Wasdale in March 1872 with his brother Conrad Heinrich Herweg.
The WASDALE was a full rigged iron ship built in February 1872 for the Whitehaven Ship Building Co for the Dale Line.
The WASDALE was sunk by collision off Cape Horn in 1877, without loss of life.
Cheers
