Linda, I am of course very familiar with Wolgast.In fact, Wolgast crossed my mind when I saw your query initially.But my last reply was based on what I saw when I looked at the original ship manifest.The name of the town is written rather illegibly, as I told you, but there is definitely no "g" in it.Furthermore, you then mentioned last time that you would be contacting the Diocese of Pittsburgh for church records, which indicates to me that Bernhard Sander must have been a Roman Catholic.So that right there eliminates Wolgast anyway as having been the town he was from.
My background includes six years studying history at the University of Munich in Germany, and, as I've told you, there was no town anywhere in Germany resembling a "Wallost".So it's really a wasted effort for you to go combing over old maps.My suggestion last time still holds:You have to come up with some other record or document that names Bernhard Sander's place of birth, and the church marriage record would be the best place to start.
