James, you are correct. The city called in German PLESKAU is the Russian city PSKOV. Although very close to the Estonian border, it was never located in Estonia. Even during the years 1941-44, it was not located in the German Reichskommissariat Ostland, of which Estonia was a part. It always remained in Russia. I should add here, however, that the city also has an Estonian name: PIHKVA. The city of OSTROV (that's the usual transliteration into English) is about 35 miles or 55 km south of Pskov -- but again, although very near the Estonian border, Ostrov was never located in Estonia. So I will have to say that I'm puzzled that the address you were given indicates the country as Estonia. (I will add here that the German "Ostrow b. Pleskau" written out in full would be "Ostrow bei Pleskau", which translates as "Ostrov near Pskov".) Robert Notify Administrator about this message?
