The following is an important section of the [I] Smith (Schmidt) line I have posted on the Smith Genforum. This part of the genealogy is an important Spielberg line so I am posting on here for all Spielberg researchers. They were horrified that their eighteen year old daughter ran off to Paris with the American SS Oberst (Colonel) and married in a non-Christian and non-Catholic SS wedding ceremony on 15 September, probably in 1938. They had carved a headstone with her name, Franziske Spielberg, and her wedding date (15 September) as the day of her death, but for the year they put 1931 instead of the year of her wedding because her father's sister Franziske Spielberg, she was named after, had died in 1931.
