Hi Robert
I was totally ignorant of there being four Offenbachs.

There was never a great deal of conversation with my father-in-law regarding his father's background, in fact he seemed annoyed at my probing!! The only piece of information I gleaned was to do with deeds to something in the Ruhr Valley. These deeds were supposedly burnt by Georg's wife after he was killed in the coal mine explosion.

There was also some mention of Prussia, in connection with what I have no idea.

As for religion, it may have been Lutheran. It definitely was not Roman Catholic as my father-in-law belonged to the Masonic Lodge.

I am not sure if the above is of any relevance, I hope it is. I am sending for Georg's marriage and death certificates, I was able to track their whereabouts this evening. Unfortunately these historic records take about four weeks to arrive.
