Robert, You are correct I did miss the fathers name. When i magnified the page I lost the line 24 in scrolling across. Also you are correct on the naturalization records I read my info on the Illinois online data base but as you pointed out I was looking for pre-1900 records for my gg/grandfathers children who all came over from Germany in the 1850's & 60's including my gg/grand father Patrizius Elser in 1869 who I found on LDS records & Ellis Island.
I spent 3 days a couple of years ago at the Newberry Libr. in Chicago looking at all the City Directory's from 1860 to 1890 and found my answers for his children.
I have a LDS FHC about 5 min. from my house so will order in films.
Your info is great and has opened some doors for me. I don't always see thing the same on the 1st read through so am learning to go back over info many times now.
THANKS & BEST REGARDS, Rudy
