Kim, I just wanted to make you aware of a rather serious historical inaccuracy in your posting. You refer to all of these people as having lived in the province of Hessen-Nassau, Prussia. But the Prussian province of Hessen-Nassau did not come into being until 1866!That was the year that the Kingdom of Prussia annexed the Electorate of Hesse (in German: Kurhessen; capital: Kassel) and the Duchy of Nassau (capital: Wiesbaden), both states having sided with Austria in the Austro-Prussian War of that year.Prussia then merged the two former states into the province of Hessen-Nassau.Hessen-Nassau then remained a Prussian province until 1945 and the break-up of the state of Prussia following World War II.
In the time period all the people you list lived, the state was known as Hessen-Kassel and was ruled by a landgrave (in German: Landgraf). In 1815, Hessen-Kassel became the Electorate of Hesse (in German: Kurhessen) and was ruled by an Elector (in German: Kurfürst) until 1866.
So to make your list of people historically accurate, you should delete Hessen-Nassau, Preussen (Preussen being German for Prussia) and replace it with Hessen-Kassel.As I said, it wasn't until years and years and years after all the people you list lived, that Prussia annexed the Electorate of Hesse (Kurhessen) and the Duchy of Nassau, and the Prussian province of Hessen-Nassau came into existence.
Robert
