Johann Diedrich Hagenah b. 1842 and Johann Deden b. 1832
Hello,
I'm looking for the names of the parents of my ggg-grandparents:
1. Johann Diedrich Hagenah b. 5 March 1842, Hannover d. 24 March 1923, Ada, Minnesota
2. Metta Schutt/Schuldt b. 23 January 1843, Hannover d. 4 November 1926 m: 28 November 1869
The family lived on a boat on the Lühe River, I don't know the name of the town. Diedrich made a living as a shoemaker. They had three children while in Germany - Johannes/John (my grandfather), Claus, Catharina Metta Adelheid.
According to the manifest of the steamship "Bohemia", the Hagenah family left the Port of Hamburg on October 30, 1881, and arrived in New York on November 16, 1881. Then they traveled to Minnesota. I know the story from this point forward. I'm looking for any information on their lives in Germany.
Second set of ggggs:
1. Johann Deden b. 29 November 1832, Hannover d. after 1900, Seward, Nebraska
2. Adelheid Bove b 1843, Hannover d. 1892, Seward, Nebraska m: 1867
I have no information on where they lived in Hannover. What I do know: Johann was confirmed in the Lutheran church. For seven years he was a member of the German army, and on being discharged he was a farmer until his emigration to America in 1869. Before leaving Germany, they had one child, Annie. Their other children, Minnie M., Martha, Albert and Mary, were all born in the US.
Again, I know their stories once they arrived in the US. I'm looking for info on their lives in Germany. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
