Karen:

Gustav shows up in New York passenger records at least 3 times:

1.        Arrived in NY on ship SS Yorck 27 Oct 1923 (sailed from Bremen). He was age 30, a “smith” was married but appeared to be traveling alone. His destination in the US was West Hoboken, NJ. The record lists his nearest relative in his place of origin as his wife, “Frieda Kullmann, Bremen, Flensburgerstr 8”
2.       Arrived in NY on ship SS Karlsruhe 30 Oct 1928 (sailed from Bremen). He was age 35 a “locksm.” He listed his last permanent residence as New York.
3.       Arrived in NY on ship SS Dresden 22 Sept 1932 (sailed from Bremen). He was age 39 and living in Brooklyn. His occupation wasn’t listed. Also sailing with him were his wife Greta, age 32, shown as born in Hamburg and son Werner, age 13, shown as born in Bremen.

The Social Security Death Index (SSDI) lists a Gus Kullmann as born 25 January 1893 and died in August 1976 – last residence shown as Key Largo, Monroe, Florida. It also shows his Social Security Number was issued before 1951 in New York.

The SSDI also shows Greta Kullmann, born 9 January 1900 and died February 1974 – last residence shown as Key Largo, Monroe, Florida. This shows her Social Security Number was issued in 1954 in Florida.

If the people in the SSDI are the correct people, these records give their birth dates – important to have when trying to find information in Germany.

Good Luck

Paul
