http://home.earthlink.net/~doemerphoto_3/DonaldChristine_1.htm My Grandfather's brother, or my Granduncle, Donald Anthony Doemer, was in Germany as part of the post WWII occupational force, stationed in Frankfurt between about 1946 through 1955 in the Army/Airforce. He fell ill and came home to Detroit, Michigan and died of Leukemia in January, 1959, which was almost a year after I was born in February, 1958. However, during his stay in Germany, Uncle Donald had a wife and two children. The wife's name was Christine, and the daughers, as I was told, were Rosemary, and Dorethea. We're not entirely sure if there was the benefit of a marriage or not. My Great Grandmother, Donald's Mother, Loretta Isabel Doemer (nee. Neville) corresponded with Christine for a few years before and after Donald's death, but Christine wrote a letter saying that she was getting married, and she would be breaking off contact. The following webpage are pictures of Christine and the two girls, although she refers to one as "Rosie", and the other as "Doule" This leads me to the purpose of my post. The first purpose is a long shot fishing expedition to see if anyone might be familiar enough with this family to identify and possibly put me in contact with my cousins. And the second is to help me out with the writing. It's not German, or at least not all of it, but appears to be written by a German attempting to write in English which they may not be altogether familiar. What does "Doule" mean? Is it a nickname for Dorethea? If they were married, where would one look for a marriage cert? Thanks in advance for any help you may offer. Notify Administrator about this message?
