Hello Debra;

Did you say that James Sutton was your great-grandfather?

Yes, "Rachel Girkin", I have found out rather recently, was actually EMILY RACHEL GERKIN/GERKING. Take your pick of spellings; all those by that spelling in that area were descended from Rachel Rice and Johann Gerking. In some records, my great-great grandfather Sam, had his name spelled as GHERKIN.

It did not ring a bell with me earlier, because my family always referred to her as "Emily". In fact, she was my grandmother's favorite aunt, and named my mother after her.

I also found in some records that it appears 'Emily" or "Rachel" also married a James O'Conner, or Connelly? It is murkey as to whom she married first. Did you descend through her with her marriage to James Sutton?

Do you know the names of the children she had? I can find absolutely no info at all on her.

Any data would sure be appreciated!

Thanks,

Penny
