Hello Perry; I know there are quite a few Edwards' in the Martin/Lawrence Co. area. I know there was an Edwards' who took apart the Johnson/Terrell family log cabin and numbered it to be reassembled. This cabin originally was in the Kings' Ridge area, and was probably built in the 1840's. It is now in a state of falling down, and soon will be beyond repair. So sad. It is located in the town of Huron, and, belongs to a person who is distantly related to me and wants to sell it. Since that side of my family also included the Gerkings', I am wondering if his line did also. I too, descend from John and Rachel through their son Sam. His granddaughter, Mary Jane Barnes, was my grandmother and she married into the Terrell family. There were several Terrell/Gerking marriages. Years ago, a first cousin of mine had a Bible of John Gerking which had been in my grandmother's possession for years. However, no one seems to know now what happened to it. She was a person who saved everything, but, since she has had dementia now for sometime, she can't tell us where she might have placed it. I do think the one I saw was in the German language, but I cannot swear to it. Also, I believe I heard that there was more than one Gerking family Bible. This is really frustrating. pfg Notify Administrator about this message?
