Just wanted to share that after two years of searching, I finally uncovered the maiden name of my ggg-grandmother. Her married name was Dora HEISER but she was originally Dora GERKEN from Hanover.
She and her husband, John Henry Heiser, came from Hanover and settled in NYC. They had several children (including my gg-grandmother, Henrietta), but more than that I really don't know. I believe she died around 1890, aged 60ish. Am hoping there may be other Gerkens of this line out there?
