Dear Linda, The family name Gerhard/Gerhardt/Gerharts is rather common here in Europe, especially in the German speaking countries. My branch Gerhardt, with a sub-branch Gerharts originates from a family tree Gerhard in Steinbach (Kreis Giessen/Hessen)near Franfurt/Main in Germany. From this family members moved to Russia, the Netherlands and USA. Looking into the Gerhard-genealogy Johann Caspar Gerhard (born in Steinbach 10 November 1767 moved to the USA. According to information he died on 11 June 1852 in Berlin, Penn.; he was 58 years married, which means that he married in 1794. His marriage was NOT in Steinbach, so it should be in the USA. The birth of Elisabeth in 1798 is possible a match which requires further investigation. His youngest brother Johann Baltsar Gerhard moved after 1808 with wife and children to the Philidelphia area. Please let me know whether there is a connection as suggested by me. Best regards, Hans Gerhardt, Rotterdam, the Netherlands Notify Administrator about this message?
