Anne Gerard Cox, Thomas Greene, Maryland, 1634
The widow Anne/Ann Cox arrived in Maryland in 1634 on either the Ark or the Dove and later married Thomas Greene/Green, who became the second governor of Maryland and had arrived on the Ark.I have read in the Register of Maryland's Heraldic Families, 1935, that Anne was "Anne Gerrard" and was a sister to Richard who also came in 1634 and to Thomas, who came about 1637.Edwin W. Beitzell also stateed that Anne was Anne Gerard in his 1951 article "Thomas Gerard and his Sons-in-Law, writing in the Maryland Historical Magazine. My question is: Does anyone have documents to support the claim that Anne Cox was indeed Anne Gerard, sister to Richard and Thomas? None of the references I have seen list sources. Thanks, Daniel Moore [email protected]
