Be sure to always search for Gerard, Gerrard, & Garrard. I find the name spelled all ways for the same family.
While looking on Ancestry.com, I found Martha Matilda Garrard, b. OH 1821, d. 5/23/1886, (no parents listed) married Charles Estey on April 4, 1844 in Miami Co., OH. Charles was son of David Estey & Anna Knoop. Both David & Anna died in Miami Co., OH. Charles was born 4/5/1820 in New Brunswick, Canada, died 4/3/1891 in Plymouth, Amador Co.,CA. Some of his siblings were born in Canada and some in Miami Co., OH. Children of Martha & Charles are:
Cyntherium Mernelva b. 1/27/1851 in IN
William F. b. 2/13/1854
Joseph G. b. 10/30/1855
Charles Robert b. 1/16/1859
Grant Smith b. 7/20/1864 in Fiddletown, CA
Rosa Mary b. 5/15/1866 in CA
Looks like the David Estey family moved from Canada to Ohio where Charles eventually married Martha Garrard. Charles & Martha then moved to IN & CA. I haven't found her parents, but there are so many Gerard, Gerrard, Garrard's in that area, it takes lots of time to look at them all. Janice Stafford
