Donna,
My mother is 78 years old and gave this book;"The Girard College and it's founder and the will of Mr. Girard" by Henry W. Arey 1854.It is in the family since 1890,which you can read on-line at Making of America,re:Lives of American Merchants.
My mother is a Girard (we come from Pierre Girard&Suzanne De Lavoye Les Sables d'Olonnes Fr.)living in Quebec. The family history goes that we are Stephen Girard descendants, but the catholics could not have inherit, and the Girards did not anderstand any english (mine is not so good). So,all her live she kept many questionnements and I am trying to find out for her.
I have been looking for a couple of years about it,and expecting replay from the historian of the Girard College in Philadelphia. They have Stephen Girard's papers at the Girard College museum.
The will has been contested by Francois Fenelon Girard, John F. Girard and others, subj. of The Monarchy of France before the Supreme Court of The United States. Jan. 1844.Daniel Webster for the heirs, Binney& Sergent for the defendants. It also on internet:Vidal vs Girard. No more space.Sylvie
