Bernadette,
sorry but you are wrong about john's wife. her last name was Bryant. my source on this is my grandmother who was a george (eunice blanche george mcneill) my older brother sat down with grandmom and asked questions about her family including her father(nc george) and her grandfather(lorenzo dow george.) i also have a plate that was part of her wedding china (wedgewood) that has been passed from generation to generation.
i don't know of any second wife.
i am a direct descendent of lorenzo dow george. my line is as follows:
john george(1810-1897) m mary ann bryant
lorenzo dow george(1829-1916) m harriet gilford
NC george(1852-1938) m ruth e allen
Eunice b george(1882-1962) m walter franklin Mcneill
grace madeleine mcneill1917-1997) m A.D. Parsons
me: diana s parsons.
what i am curious about is john's father. Thru Gen Weg i found a 1790 census that had a James george as head of household. so i looked it up in the family search of mormon church and found a wife: susannah dow. Maybe lorenzo middle name came from his grandmother?
any info you can send me will be gratly appreciated.

thanks

diana
