Hi Toni,

I know that an Isaac George, born 1780 in Stokes County, married a Frances, "Franky" Hensley ca 1800 in Stokes. They eventually settled into Montgomery County, Illinois where Isaac died in October 1859. They had five children: Enoch, Elizabeth, Wesley Hensley, Reuben and Mary.

Since Enoch was the eldest son, it may be that Enoch was the name of Isaac's father. The name, Enoch, is a name long associated with the George family; one Enoch George was a bishop of the Methodist Church; I don't believe that Enoch George married and had any children.

Elizabeth George, daughter of Isaac, married an ancestral first cousin, 4 generations removed from me, John W. Bowles, son of Benjamin Bowles and Elizabeth Wells of Person County, NC and Iredell County, NC

I have many George cousins from the second marriage of my ancestress, Ann Edney Tapscott, widow of Henry Tapscott, to Benjamin George, Jr. They also had a son, Enoch George, and a son, Benjamin George, III.

I am trying to see if the Surrey County George family was in some way related to the Georges of Lancaster County, VA.

John Fox
Winston Salem, NC
