My line of Crawford Co, PA GEORGE's were from Summit and Pine Townships. Some of them left for Iowa about 1840. But, I did have one that remained. Here is what I know based on the census.
Summit, Crawford, PA (1880)
James George, age 46, PA PA PA
Lucinda, wife, age 44, PA OH OH
Manley, son, age 17, PA
Maggied, dau, age 10, PA
Pine, Crawford, PA (1900)
James, age 66, PA
Lucinda, wife, age 64, PA
Conneaut, Crawford, PA (1900)
Manley George, age 37, PA PA PA
Grace, wife, age 30, PA NY MI
Jimmie, son, age 6, PA
Ethel, dau, age 4, PA
Donna, dau, age 2/12, PA
Pine, Crawford, PA (1910)
Lucinda M. George, age 74, PA PA OH
James G., son, age 16
I believe that James George of Summit Twp, Crawford Co PA is the son of William George (b 1810 Washington Co, PA) & Margaret McMann (b 1811 Allegheny Co, PA). From the handwritten obituary on William George in Wayne Co, IA, and through biographies from this line, they all say that James remained in Crawford Co, PA. Not sure if there was a falling out with William & Margaret, his parents, or just that he took over the homestead and never felt the need to leave PA.
If you have any information on James and Lucinda George that would be great. I will have to check the Manley surname to see if that was Lucinda's surname.
