I may or may not be a descendent of the William George you speak of, however - I do descend from one William Mansfield George who was born around 1830 and lived in Shilo, Tennesee during the Civil War. I have had some difficulties finding the ancestors of my William George but I do have several candidates. Perhaps you can help me....Old notes on my genealogies do mention several Williams and Thomases.
I believe that my Georges came from Wales to the Americas very early - perhaps 1616-1620 - and settled in Virginia.
William Mansfield George was married to Nancy Jane Bell, and they left Tennesee to go to Arkansas immediately following the Civil War and eventually this line ended up in Oklahoma - where, I notice, that you are from. My grandfather, Arthur, was born in Oklahoma in 1911.
William Mansfield George and Nancy Jane Bell had four children but I can only remember three of their names - James, Miranda and Sarah. I am in the direct line from James.
Also, I have asked my brother to take the George DNA test since I am a female and lack the "Y" chromosome, but he has not done it yet. Does this test require a direct MALE line, or can either of my two sons do this?
