I agree with the benefit of the George Surname DNA Project.
Traditional paper records indicated that I descend from Nicholas George,1603-1661 of Lancaster Co.,Va.I took the Y-DNA test and guess what---I have found that of 6 male George generations in a row from Nicholas,Jr 1635-1699 to my greatx3 grandfather,Wiley B.B.George,1812-1880, I --DO NOT --match the first 3 generations of Nicholas Jr,William 1670-1710 or Thomas George 1701-1748 all of Lancaster Co.,Va.

I am still trying to find descendants of generation #4 William George 1724-1787 of Lancastetr and Botetourt Co.,Va.

I DO match a descendant of a brother of Wiley B.B.George.

I would never have discovered this apparent disruption in my direct male George line without Y-DNA testing.
