My great-grandfather was Emerson H. George and my understanding is that his family was originally from Virginia.
EHG went to UVa and lived in Madison GA where he practiced law and grew cotton. He died in 1937. My uncle, born in 1912, is still alive. He has three sons. My mother, born in 1914, is also alive and well...apparently the family (past and present) is fairly long-lived.
If you think Emerson might be related to your family, I'd be interested in any family history you have. I've just started this process and have had pretty good luck tracing his wife's family (Mustin)-but am not having much success w/the George side.
