Hi Lettie!
Ambrose George is my GGG grandfather. My GG grandfather was Joesph George (b.about 1827), and his son James W. George (b. 1854) was the father of my grandfather Virgil E. George (b.1883). I know Virgil had a brother named Joe. Is that your grandfather? My father's name was Lloyd McCay George.
All I have on Ambrose George is born about 1795 in S.C. He was listed in the 1850 and 1860 Walton County Census records. His wife was Ferribyn (not sure if this is the correct spelling). She was born about 1795 in Georgia. I am actively searching for where they may be buried. I know Joesph moved his family to Newton County sometime between 1870 and 1880, because he is listed in the Newton County 1880 Census. I believed his brother James may have been killed in the Civil War. My email is Would love to hear from you!
