GEORGE/DUPRIS Luxembourg, Belgium -> Sheldon, NY

Looking to trace one of the many GEORGE lines who came from Belgium and settled in Sheldon, New York in the 1800s.

Michael GEORGE, son of Nicolaus GEORGE and Margaretha SEITTER or LEITTNER was born in 1808 in Heinstert, Luxembourg, Belgium, where he also married Elizabeth DUPRIS (also spelled DUPREY) on 1 Jan 1840.

They had two children in Heinstert: Catharina or Catherine, born Mar 1841 and Margaretha/Margaret, born 10 May 1844.

Sometime after the birth of their second child, they immigrated to New York, settling in Sheldon, where there appears to already have been several GEORGE families. There, they had four more children: Elizabeth (b. 19 Feb 1847), Maria (b. 22 Sep 1848), Mary Helen (b. 25 Sep 1851) and Nicholas (b. 31 Mar 1854). Michael died on 12 Dec 1875 in Sheldon, and his wife Elizabeth, ten years later on 6 Apr 1885.

Margaretha married Peter NIERENHAUSEN in Sheldon on 25 Sep 1865, and moved to Stearns Co. Minnesota around 1867 or 1868, settling in Wakefield and Richmond townships.

If anyone knows more about this particular line of GEORGEs, I'd love to hear from you! I have some information that I'd be more than willing to share, and would love to add more to my Tree!

Cheers, and happy hunting!
