I recently discovered a GEORGE connection on my grandfather's mom's side. There appears to be a Belgium-to-Sheldon connection, but immigration would have been in the mid-1840s, between 1844 and 1847, from my research (so far).
I've got a Michael GEORGE and Elizabeth DUPRIS/DUPREY coming over from Begium with two children, and having four more in Sheldon. The children were Catharina, Margaretha, Elizabeth, Maria, Mary Helen and Nicholas. I am descended from Margaretha (Margaret).
If this sounds familiar to anyone, I'd love to hear from you! I received a photo of St. Cecilia's RC church from that time, which was replaced around the turn of the century that someone was gracious enough to send me. If anyone wants a copy, let me know!
Looking forward to hearing from someone!
