There is a Caroline Co., VA, Court Order Book reference stating that Anne George, wife of Richard George, appeared in Court on April 14, 1738 and acknowledged her signature on deed from Richard George to Ambrose Madison (Ambrose Madison, then being deceased and during his lifetime he conveyed this land to George Penn). The date of the deed to Ambrose Madison is not specified, but Ambrose Madison died in August 1732.

I am more interested in the Madison and Penn family than I am in the George family. Does anybody know who this Richard George was? Was he the same Richard George who married Elizabeth Mayo? Could Elizabeth Mayo have died and he remarried Ann by 1732? I don't think that Ann would have acknowledged this deed unless she was the spouse of Richard George at the time the deed was written which had to be before Ambrose Madison's death in 1732.
