Hello Kay,

I am interested in the Watts name and the George name connection.

I am a Swift descendant of William Swift and Frances Waddy of Goochland/Hanover, counties Va. and Caswell County, NC. William Swift named his daughter Mary Swift George in his will of 1808 in Caswell; but when he named the children of his wife, Frances Waddy Swift, who would receive any estate after her demise, did not include Mary Swift George nor her sister, Sarah Swift Williamson.

I did notice that Mary Swift and James George were married in Goochland County, NC in 1767; her father, William Swift married Frances Waddy in Goochland in 1756, which would mean that Mary would have been marrying at the age of 10 or 11, were she a daughter of Frances Waddy Swift. James and Mary Swift George's two eldest daughters were Elizabeth and Mary Watts George. I am attempting to see if the Watts name is a clue to the possible identity of Mary's mother, or should I look to Elizabeth as a possibility.

Best regards,

John Fox
