Here is the obituary I mentioned in my last post:


FROM OBITUARY IN THE NEBRASKA STANDARD:
LAST THURSDAY JULY 23RD, JUST BEFORE NOON WORD CAME OVER THE PHONE THAT
OUR TOWNSMAN, P.S. GEORGE, W HO WAS VISITING FRIENDS AT NARKA, HAD
FALLEN DEAD ON THE STREETS AT THAT PLAC E, WHICH WAS EVIDENTLY DUE TO
HEARTFAILURE. MR. GEORGE WAS ONE OF OUR MOST H IGHLY RESPECTED CITIZENS
AND THE NEWS OF HIS DEATH CAME AS A SHOCK BARBED WIT H PAIN AND SORROW.
ONLY THE NIGHT BEFORE HE LEFT FOR NARKA APPARENTLY IN GOO D HEALTH AND
PEOPLE WITH WHOM HE TALKED JUST A SHORT TIME BEFORE HIS DEATH SA YS HE WAS
WELL AS USUAL. IT WAS THE WRITER'S GOOD FORTUNE TO MAKE THIS MAN'S
ACQUAINTANCE AND WE ONLY KNEW HIM TO ESTEEM HIM MORE HIGHLY AS EACH DAY
PA SSED BY. HE LIVED A CLEAN UPRIGHT LIFE, AND NOT ONLY WILL HIS FOLKS
BUT THE WHOLE COMMUNITY WILL MISS HIM, AND HIS INFLUENCE WILL LIVE AND
COUNT FOR RIG HTEOUSNESS.
MR. GEORGE WAS BORN APRIL 11, 1835 NEAR GREENSBURG, PA., AND DIED AT
NARKA, KANSAS JULY 23, 1914. HE WAS MARRIED TO MISS HARRIETT ULAM,
DEC EMBER 25, 1860, TO WHICH UNION WERE BORN FIVE CHILDREN, THREE DYING IN
INFANC Y. M.E. GEORGE OF PORTLAND, OREGON AND MRS. MARY CRUM OF HOXIE,
KANSAS SURVI VE.
JULY 8, 1883, A YEAR AND ONE MONTH AFTER THE CHURCH WAS ORGANIZED, MR.
A ND MRS. GEORGE UNITED WITH THE HUBBELL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. TWO YEARS
LATER, IN THE SPRING OF 1885, MR. GEORGE WAS ELECTED AND ORDAINED A
RULING ELDER. HE WAS A CONSTANT MEMBER OF THIS CHURCH 31 YEARS AND
RENDERED EFFICIENT SER VICE IN THE CAPACITY OF RULING ELDER 29 YEARS.
MRS. GEORGE DEPARTED THIS LIF E MARCH 26, 1906 AND SINCE THAT TIME HE HAS
LIVED ALONE.
MRS. KERR, WILKINSB URG, PA., MRS. KING, DALLIS CITY, ILL., MRS. MOREHEAD,
FAIRFIELD, IOWA - SIST ERS OF DECEASED, MR. HARRY GEORGE, GRAHAM, COLO., A
BROTHER WHO WAS PRESENT A T THE FUNERAL, THE SON AND DAUGHTER AND A HOST
OF RELATIVES AND FRIENDS ARE L EFT TO MOURN HIS DEPARTURE.
FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD AT THE HUBBELL PRESBYTE RIAN CHURCH LAST SUNDAY
AT 1 A.M., CONDUCTED BY HIS PASTOR, REV. GWINN AND TH E REMAINS LAID TO
REST BESIDE MRS. GEORGE IN THE IDA CEMETERY. A LARGE CROWD WAS PRESENT
TO SHOW THEIR RESPECT TO THIS CITIZEN.
