Found your work very helpful. TRAVIS GEORGE, who you listed as one of the sons of Dr. Jesse George who moved to and died in Texas, was Joseph Travis George b. April 3, 1823 d. Oct. 25, 1867. Married Rhoda Francis Newsom b. March 10, 1830 d. January 16, 1920. Her father was Moses Newsom. All of this group are buried in Tangipohoa cemetery in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana. Dr. Joseph Travis George was a minister in the Methodist Church. We have information that his father Dr. Jesse George gave to him a girl of color about 1845 and she assisted nursing at Camp Moore during the war between the states. His family has grown and prospered in and around the area. I have more information. Contact me at my email address.
