Sarah Ellen George Ratliff was the daughter of James (Jim) & Elizabeth Anderson George. Sarah Ellen was born in Brown Co. Texas on 4-1-1858. She married W.C. Ratliff on 11-21-1877 in Hill Co. Texas. She died on 5-12-1910 in Canadian, Texas. (Her sister, Jenie Akins died in Calif.) She is buried in the Canadian Cemetary beside her daughter, Lida New. Billie Ratliff is buried beside them, I am almost positive, however his grave is unmarked. As a matter of fact, I talked to the Hemphill Co. Historical committee yesterday about Billie Ratliff's grave. I am trying to get some kind of marker for him since he was the very 1st Sheriff of Hemphill County.
I do not know if Billie was married before he and Sarah Ellen married. Sarah Ellen's brother, William Edward George, was my great grandfather.
