Can you be more specific about where Susanna
George Lived in PA. Was it in Philadelphia?
In Philadelphia there was a large number of
Georges prior to the Rev. War. They tended
to be Quakers and lived in and around Blockley Township. One of them, around 1860,
denoted land to the City of Philadelphia to
help form Fairmount Park. There is now
piece pf Fairmount Park called George's Hill (83 acres). The owner was Jesse George and he was 83 at the time and he lived with his sister Rebecca. My
GGGgrandmother was named Susan George and
she was 40 in 1850 and she married into the
family. She had two daughters, Anne (20 in 1850) and Hannah (5 in 1850). Jesse was her
Great Uncle.
