Greg, As of right now, I'm not sure of the connection between your Solomon George, William George who married Elinor Snodgrass in Botetourt Co., VA on 9 Feb 1779 and my Joab George. They all have ties to Botetourt Co., VA. Your Solomon and William are in the right time frame to be brothers, be nothing to prove that yet. In "Botetourt Co., VA Marriages 1770-1853 Vol. 2 Female Names" there is this entry as well: Jane George married John Shirkey, 12 Jan 1780; bondsman - Joseph Carroll; Witness: Richard May & William May And this entry: Polly B. George, married Joseph Reyburn 14 Apr 1818; bondsman: Elijah McClanahan, guardian of Polly; minister: Robert Logan (Presby.) In the book "A Seed-Bed of the Republic" by Stoner there are these mentionings: Revolutionary War Companies from Botetourt Co., Capt. Barnett's Co. (45 men): Solomon George. Capt. Robinson Co.: William George 1783 Tithables, page 234: Homes near Fincastle; William George, log dwelling, shingled roof, stone chimney In "Kegley's Virginia Frontier" page 478: The Catawba Co. of Militia, 1783 (Catawba Valley) Capt. Robinson's Co.: William George, 4 horses, 8 cows, no slaves. That's about all the refernces I have todate. This information you've given to me on Solomon is new and interesting. Some more work needs to be done with some Botetourt Co. references. I'll keep working at it and if you come up with any new info please pass it along. Mark R. Kiser St. Albans, WV
