Jan, I have recently returned from Shilo,Tn., where I went to visit William Mansfield George's cabin - as he is my ggg-granddad. I have ample information on the lineage of his son James William, through whom I am a descendant, but- I have not yet been able to find the names of William Mansfield George's parents - evidently the census records for eastern Tennessee were destroyed in a fire.I've even been searching the Arkansas cemeteries, hoping that his tombstone would read "Beloved son of....". Personal family records only mention a Thomas George and a George George before our mysterious William Mansfield - but, I haven't been able to confidently assign Thomas as William's father because of lack of documentation.I do know that origonally this line of Georges came from Wales and settled in first Pennsylvania, then Virginia before moving southward. Anyway - I have a picture of the cabin on the Shilo battle field, if you want me to send it to you. And, please if you find out info please "e" me at once - I will do likewise.
