Carolyn

I descend from Robert Moody George. Martha/Patsy Porter is the wife of Robert M. George. The 81 year old Martha listed in the 1850 Census of Floyd County kentucky is Martha's mother Martha/Patsy (Hutchinson) Porter, (Robert's mother Jane George's will was probated 1845 in Floyd Co so she could not be on the 1850 census). I descend through Daughter Mahala George (age 26 in1850 census) she had married been widowed and returned with her two children William age 5 and Cynthia age 4 (my 2nd great grand mother) They are HILLS but are listed as George's. ( Names are all mixed up in the household and hard to follow unless you have outside information to sort them out.) Do not know the relationship of of the James George age 26 listed in the 1850 census.

On the 1870 census of Floyd Co Ky is listed

194
GEORGE, James 46 KY
Mary 46 VA
195
MARSHALL, Hugh 28 VA
(GEORGE), Nancy A. 26 Ky
MARHSALL, Mahala 5 KY
MARSHALL, Josephine 1 F

196
GEORGE, Robert M. 70 SC
GEORGE, William J. 40 Ky
phebe 33 KY
Martha 11 KY
Robert 7 KY
Mary A. 5 KY
Marcus L. 1 KY

I have no proof that he is the James listed in the 1850 census with Robert M George. But the age fits and him living only one household away from Robert M George in the 1870 census with only Robert's daughter Nancy living between them points in that direction. Since he is still alive in 1870 that would not make him the James George that died in the civil war. Hope that this helps.
