Dave, thank you for your reply. This is a second Mattie Gentry. My Mattie was placed in the Monroe-Harding Orphanage at age 11, with her siblings Amanda, William, Harrison, Maud V., Elizabeth. The youngest, Mary, was with their mother, Sidney Murry/Murray.They were staying with Sidney's mother and step-father Samuel and Ellen Paul.Mary was later placed at the home at age 5 years. On her orphange papers, her father is listed as Merideth James Gentry, DOD Dec 6, 1898 from a logging accident.I have confirmed this information from a couple of sources, including one of Mary's grandchildren who knew Mattie well and was raised partially by Mary.
I feel these other Gentrys were related, but cannot find how.I have no idea as to Merideth's age when he died.He went by the nickname Med.Ellen Daniel Murry was the daughter of James and Mary Daniel from Bedford County, TN.Her first husband was Thomas Murray from KY.Ellen had Sidney and Thomas, Jr., by him. When he died, she remarried Samuel Paul, and had John T. Paul.
