Thank you so very much, Derek, for not only replying, but for giving me the middle name of Miles A.Gentry. This means that more than likely, my Grandfather Allison McCarty was named after him.

Allison's father Samuel McCarty and Miles A. Gentry were 1st cousins. They both had a first cousin (once removed)who was named Allison Frederick Gentry.

A few of us thought that Allison Frederick might have been named after my Grandfather, but I kind of felt like they were both named after another Allison in the family, and Miles Allison was probably it. Of course, there may have been another Allison who Miles Allison was named after.

I had put my researching on hold for a while after I last posted here, which I do every now and then. I have not done any more extensive work on any of the Gentrys or Martins since then, so I haven't figured out a connection between C M Martin (actually, I had only gotten so far as to know that Lula was married to a Martin, so I did not know his initials). I knew that the census had Turah's brother as being Charley Martin, so I thought there might be some connection, not just because of the name, but these people all seemed to know each other so well, and were so close, that some cousins married.

I knew that it has been said that Charles Martin's sister, Sarah, was a cousin to her husband Samuel Gentry, who was my GrGrGranduncle. They said that there was no proof for sure yet, so I am not sure if I am related to Charles and David Martin yet, but it does seem that way.

All of these relationships get too overwhelming for my mind sometimes, and it feels like there are obvious connections right in front of me, and I can't see the forest for the trees. I am amazed that I get as far as I do, sometimes.

If I come up with anything, I will let you know. Thanks again. Often it is the little clues that lead to the big connections, so it is good to study every little thing.
