Hello again - I was wanting to point out a few other things that may be confusing: There is the Levi Gentry, the father, then Levi F. who is the son. I don't know if the father had a middle name or initial, and I haven't stopped long enough to think about what the "F" might be for in the son's name.
I noticed that on the Salem Church records os Saluda, SC, that sometimes the son was called Levi Gentry Jr. and other times he was called Levi F. Gentry.
I was just thinking that I might start referring to them as Levi Gentry Sr. and Levi F.Gentry Jr. (I thought if I still added the "F" it might help all of us, especially me.
According to some of the deeds I glanced over at the courthouse (have not had much time to work on that)It seems as if Levi F. Gentry Jr. may have owned some of the land here where this nearby area is, before all of his siblings moved up here from Lowndes,MS. I am thinking he may have sold it to some of his siblings and moved a little further away from here, near a place called Jugfork, MS, on the route of various post offices over time, Birmingham Ridge, Guntown, et al., not sure about all of it yet, but the living descendent of his that I found out about lives near that area now, and if I get the chance to talk to him soon, he can probably help us a lot.
Levi F.Gentry Jr. is buried at a small community about 10 miles from here called Alpine, MS.
I know it helps in some ways that they did name their people after others in the family, but it does get confusing, sometimes.
Samuel Gentry named one of his sons Levi,and Levi F. Gentry Jr. named one of his sons Levi...I am going to send this on and I will be back shortly
