I think I did forget to mention that Mary would be David's 2nd wife, if my theory about them being the same ones is right. (I know the following is out of place, I haven't learned much about copying and pasting yet)
About the "H" & "W" middle initial, I can see how "H" can look like a "W" letter, when it is written in a certain old style, which is what I think happened on the 1850 census. The book of the transcribed census at the library here in Tupelo (that is the main town near the smaller town of Sherman), have his middle initial "H", but then again, the books have a lot of mistakes, too. I have a copy of the original census, but the size was reduced a little when I copied it and it is hard for me to tell for sure. In a way it looks like a "W" and in another way it looks like an "H". The FTM's that someone sent to me have David "H". Gentry, and in the Pontotoc Marriages, was the name of David "H". Gentry married to the Mary Holly (this is also where I found the Mary Gentry that was married to the Echols who I believe to be the ones next to Samuel Gentry on the 1860 census, and also because of their children's name being Gentry, it seems like this would be the same Mary that was married to David Gentry). I think while I was at the courthouse I found David "H". Gentry in the index to documents and I have them written down somewhere, I will check later. As many times as I have seen names and letters and other stuff mixed up on the census and elsewhere, there is no telling for sure sometimes. I may not have room to talk, though.

I am thinking that if his middle name started with an "H", that it could have been for Hezekiah, since there were several of those in the Family. There was also a William several times, I noticed.

The FTM's that the people sent several years ago only had Sarah as a wife, but they, like many others did not have as much information about Levi's family - such as my GrGrGrandmother Martha Gentry and family, and some dates and marriages of the others, also. I am certainly not saying that anyone should have already known all of this, as I do not know near as much about the other Gentrys as they do, but I am trying to find out all I can from others, like you are. This is one of the reasons I have offered to send the information that I do have, I thought they would want to update or add to, but so far you are the only one that seems interested in that. I have written messages to others before, and I have posted some information several times before. It seems like maybe they only knew about Levi and Ruth's children that were listed on the 1850 census as their children, and probably did not have a scan of the minutes of the Salem Church when the Gentry's attended there for over 40 years in South Carolina. I know I have offered to send them a scan of those too. The people that sent one scan of the McCarty entries, have been to SC researching quite a few times. The other person that sent me mostly just the Gentry listings from the minutes, lives in Edgefield, SC. (There were so many pages of the originals that they could not send all of them, especially since I did not need or want all of them)

I will try to get to the Albert McCarty dates maybe next time I write. I have to leave again right now, so I have not got a chance yet to read much of what you sent, but I hope to soon.
