William Shelby Gentry was my grandfather, born in Shelby, Alabama in 1856 to Larkin Gentry and Frances E. Gause (Goss). Found him again 1860 @ 4 yrs. old with his mother father and siblings and again in 1870 with his Mother and siblings. Larkin, his Father was gone by this time as he was a casuality of the Civil War 1862. William S. shows up again in marriage index of Sabine, Louisiana where he married Cenith (Sina) Crippen. Found him again in Shelby County, Texas where he marries my Grandmother Fannie E. Holt 1883. Does not show up again until 1900 Grant Parish Louisiana with Fannie his wife and children. Once more in 1910 in Grant Parish, Louisiana with his children my father, John Louis Gentry his sister, Willie Dee Gentry, one of my aunts, and a few more children. After this NOTHING. I have searched for so long for something to show his heritage and where and when he died. Family talk is that he was part Cherokee, but have had no luck finding anything to prove or disprove this. Also Fannie E. Holt was said to be Cherokee, but again nothing to say one way or the other.

Thank You
for your help
Martha Gentry
