Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you, just a busy time of year. The connection to Troy, New York is very interesting. I checked some census indexes and found a John Gentleman in Cuyahoga County, Ohio in 1870. Would that be your family? The only other thing I thought of that might mean something to you is the names of the other sponsors of Eliza's children. They were Thomas Ryan and Mary Dore, Thomas Ivers and Elizabeth Kitson, Clifford Kitson, John and Anne Liston, and Michael Walsh. Could he be related to Mary? If you are interested in the names and dates of birth of Eliza's children they are listed in the Sheehy forum.
