My 4th great-grandmother was Ann J. GENTLE; b. 1816 in Lincolnshire, England; m. Thomas Stockdale 1843 at Anderby, Lincolnshire, England; d. 1895 in Carlton, Orleans Co., New York. She is buried in Mt. Albion Cemetery, Orleans County.
The Stockdale surname became Stockton. Ann gave birth to four sons in England, between 1843 and 1849; their names are William, Henry, Albert, and Silas. Thomas and Ann emigrated with their family from Lincolnshire, England to America in 1850. It seems that Thomas Stockton was accompanied to America by his brother, John. It seems that Ann GENTLE Stockton was accompanied to America by her sister, Sabina GENTLE Cook, wife of Thomas Cook.
Thomas and Ann GENTLE Stockton settled near Albion, Orleans Co., New York in 1850. Thomas’ brother and Ann’s sister settled in that region, too.
Ann GENTLE Stockton gave birth to three more children after she settled in Orleans Co., New York; their names are John, Jenette, and Louise. I am descended from Louise STOCKTON who married Fred S. Mann in 1875.
I have done some preliminary research of the Gentle family in England. The LDS website provides IGI records of Christenings for Sabina GENTLE (1814) and Ann GENTLE (1818) in Lincolnshire. Both of those records give the mother’s name as Susanna; no father’s name is recorded. The two daughters may have born out of wedlock.
Below is the 1841 England census data that lists my Ann in the household of Hurdman and Susanna GENTLE Wells.

I have discovered records naming a Susanna GENTLE b. 28 Jun 1789 in Fulstow, Lincoln, England, daughter of Bryan and Mary (snu) Gentle. I do not know if Bryan and Mary are the parents of my Susanna GENTLE.
I am searching for information about the parents of Susanna GENTLE b. ca. 1790; m. Hurdman Wells 1826; d. 1873 in Spilsby District, Lincolnshire, England.
