I dont have a direct reference to Sir William Gentle, but my Gentle family were from Ashwell Herts. They were mostly agricultural labourors. My branch of the family , along with 2 or three others from that generation, left for Australia in the early 1850,s. I have the Gentle family in Ashwell back to 1646 if you are interested.
